The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam negotiations

Egypt, Sudan, and Ethiopia are not agreed, during a meeting on the Renaissance Dam, on Sunday, to hold a new round of negotiations in the presence of observers and experts, while Cairo stressed the need to reach an agreement before resuming filling the dam. Over the years, there have been numerous meetings between the conflicting parties over the dam without real progress. Ethiopia relies on its giant dam to obtain energy and move the wheel of its economy. As for Egypt, it fears the shortage of Nile water and the dryness of its lands, while Sudan hopes to reach a compromise solution. The main dispute revolves around the pace of filling the reservoir, while specialists stress the need to take decisive steps to deter Ethiopia, which wants to complete the process within three years.
